Night Owl D.M.V / how access works

Account types & features

Start with the public city guide, then add only the access that matches what you want to do. This page maps discovery, planning, connection, DJ, performance, and community features to the account state that can use them.

01 · The four states

Access follows intent.

Most of the city guide is open. An account adds personal and social tools; DJ access is granted onto that member account, while owner operations stay separate and protected.

01 / Open access

Public visitor / guest

You can browse the public city guide without an account and use the discovery and planning surfaces that are open to everyone.

  • Explore venues, events, the map and directory, neighborhood guides, Tonight’s Edit, concierge, public DJ profiles, and published upcoming performances.
  • Use the guided night planner interactively without signing in.
  • Save venue and DJ items in this browser. Those saved items are local to the browser and do not require an account.

02 / Personal access

Regular signed-in member

A member account keeps the personal and social parts of the night connected while preserving the same public discovery foundation.

  • Save a private itinerary draft and return to it from your account.
  • Choose what is visible on your member profile, find visible members, and manage friend requests.
  • Use member-only messaging and the community timeline, with blocking and reporting safeguards available in the member experience.

03 / Granted access

Granted DJ account

DJ access is an approved capability on a regular member account, not a separate role that replaces membership or unlocks owner controls.

  • Apply after creating a regular account through the public DJ flow or an invited DJ flow. Applications remain pending until the owner approves them.
  • After approval, manage public profile links, choose and publish performance listings, prepare setlists, use go-live guidance, and view the existing earnings workspace.
  • Keep the regular member capabilities, including community and messaging access. Owner/admin tools remain protected.

04 / Protected operations

Owner / admin controls

Owner and admin controls are protected operational tools for running Hush Meridian, not another customer-facing account tier.

  • Review member accounts, DJ applications and accounts, venue publication, Tonight’s Edit, and Night Owl Black operations.
  • Manage the approval and publishing decisions that determine what becomes public.
  • These controls are not available to a regular member or a granted DJ account.

02 · Open to everyone

The public guide is the front door.

You do not need an account to look around, find a room, or shape a possible night. Public pages show what has actually been published.

03 · Two planning lanes

Explore first. Save when ready.

The public planner helps anyone think through a night. A member account adds a private draft that can be revisited from the account area.

Public guided night planner

Try the shape of a night.

Anyone can use the interactive planner to explore a direction before deciding whether to create an account.

Signed-in planning workflow

Keep a private itinerary draft.

A member account is required to save and return to the private draft. It is planning-only: it does not promise availability, make a booking or reservation, buy a ticket, or create a confirmed itinerary.

04 · Signed-in members

Connection has boundaries.

Member features are account-protected and shaped by each person’s visibility choices and safety controls.

Identity & connection

Choose how visible you are.

Signed-in members can maintain a visible member profile, choose privacy options, send and manage friend requests, and use blocking and reporting safeguards. One-to-one messaging is for signed-in members and can be unavailable when a member is blocked.

Community timeline

Share a small signal.

The account-protected timeline lets eligible members view posts, publish short text updates or supported photo/video posts, and interact with likes, comments, shares, and photo saves.

05 · For DJs

DJ access is earned, then bounded.

The public can discover approved DJ work. The creator tools appear only after the application has been reviewed and granted.

  1. Step 1

    Create a regular account.

Apply through the public DJ flow or use an invited DJ flow. Both begin with a regular account identity.

  2. Step 2

    Wait for owner approval.

An application remains pending until the owner approves it. DJ-only actions are unavailable while access is pending.

  3. Step 3

Publish what you mean to share.

Granted DJs can manage public profile links, choose and publish performances, prepare setlists, use go-live guidance, and view the existing earnings workspace.

What guests see: approved public DJ profiles and published upcoming performances only.

What DJ access does not mean: it does not grant owner/admin controls or bypass member safety boundaries.

06 · Separate from account types

Night Owl Black is manual interest, not a checkout tier.

Night Owl Black is reviewed separately from ordinary guest, member, DJ, and owner/admin access. Its current state is intentionally limited.

Anyone can register interest, which is manually reviewed. No payment or activation is created; interest does not create an account, grant event access, or sell a ticket.

The proposed Black benefits are not currently available. Any future offering would still depend on confirmed venue or service agreements and legal and operational approval.

Protected operations

Owner/admin review and operations for Night Owl Black are protected controls for the Hush Meridian team. They are not customer-facing features or a benefit of ordinary DJ access.
